Garfish in the Limfjord

The garfish is a common guest during the summer in all of Denmark. It will usually arrive to the Limfjord around May and stay until October. They usually appear in large shoals and you might see them at the surface when it hunts for fish and crustaceans.

The garfish creates a lot of life and activity when it arrives. It reaches for both lures and flies, but the small jaw makes it difficult for it to bite. If you are after garfish specifically, it will be beneficial to put approx. 5 cm. line between the lure and the hook, or replace the hook with a silk string, which the garfish’s teeth will be caught in when it bites.
There is no set length measurement for garfish.
